This report was made by PET-AIR (Post Employment Training, American Indian Rehabilitation), through the Interwork Institute. It responds to the need for Independent Living services in Indian Country. Provides a basic understanding of the function of and laws pertaining to Independent Living, and the criteria for funding of a Center for Independent Living.

This teleconference covered the areas of board functioning, staff roles and responsibilities, how to recruit and develop potential leaders, how to avoid fiscal disasters and how to create and maintain working relationships between the executive director and the board.

This teleconference gave the participants the opportunity to gain a basic understanding of the range of assistive technology, explore the most common myths regarding assistive technology, find the most cost effective solutions to AT hurdles, learn more about how AT can help people live independently in the community and what are successful frameworks for incorporating AT into Independent Living
