Top Five Frustrations & Fixes of Document Accessibility

The National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials (NCRTM) hosted a community of practice (CoP) from January - March 2017. Over 300 individuals from a variety of fields including, vocational rehabilitation, government, university, technology, and advocacy joined the group to share their perspectives on the barriers of creating and remediating digital materials; and identify bridges that will lead to more widespread document accessibility.

Members contributed their thoughts about why people find it so difficult to provide accessible documents and generated ideas for addressing those barriers. Surveys helped to narrow these thoughts and ideas into the five top frustrations and fixes shared below.
