MN RETAIN (Retaining Employment and Talent after Injury/Illness Network) Dashboard
The MN RETAIN Program developed a dashboard to track, monitor, and evaluate employment outcomes in real time. It provides insights into employment status, industry classifications for RETAIN enrollments, and key performance metrics. The dashboard enables stakeholders across multiple organizations to access timely data, monitor trends, assess program impact, and support data-driven decisions. It helps identify industries and employers that benefit from RETAIN resources. By analyzing the data, staff can strengthen employer relationships, expand awareness, and promote stay-at-work/return-to-work practices supporting workforce retention. This is the RETAIN-DIF Phase 3 dashboard for reference.

Show Abstract
The RETAIN program provides a strategic approach to workforce retention by supporting employees affected by injury or illness. The program helps reduce absenteeism, lower turnover costs, and improve productivity by promoting early and safe return-to-work outcomes. Employers benefit from customized services and access to workforce development resources tailored to their operational needs.
Through coordinated support, RETAIN helps businesses proactively address health-related work disruptions while promoting long-term workforce stability. The program offers practical solutions that can reduce turnover, minimize lost productivity, and strengthen organizational performance.
RETAIN also provides individualized support based on each employer’s needs and connects businesses with additional workforce development resources at no cost. By helping employers effectively manage ill or injured workers and retain valuable employees, RETAIN serves as a cost-effective workforce retention strategy that supports both employee well-being and business success.
Information collected from participants during the enrollment process and subsequent follow up conversations is entered into Workforce One which is the primary case management system used. With this data staff are able to use Power BI, which is a comprehensive business intelligence (BI) tool to create the dashboard graphics that can update in real time. MN RETAIN uses these tools to create this dashboard which tracks several key metrics as a way to monitor the program and outcomes in a comprehensive way. MN RETAIN frequently includes the dashboard in updates with federal partners and in presentations.
