Founded in 1858 in Louisville, KY, APH empowers people who are blind or have low vision by providing accessible, innovative products and services. As mandated by Congress, APH supplies braille textbooks and tactile graphics for K-12 students across the U.S. In September 2024, APH launched the Monarch, a device combining braille and tactile graphics. The CIE & Monarch Explore, Prepare, Engage Project will distribute 250 Monarchs to young adults (ages 18-25) and Teachers of the Visually Impaired nationwide. It will include training, online learning, and a Monarch app to help users achieve career goals while equipping educators to support their success.
