ASL Version of this webinar announcement and the time commitment details

Time commitment: This Canvas course opened on Sunday, January 24, 2021 and will close on Sunday, March 7, 2021 (join any time). The module-based curriculum and asynchronous, interactive discussion is anticipated to take participants five hours to complete at their own pace.

About: RSA Interpreter Education Spotlight Series: Project CLIMB provides an overview of this innovative bilingual (ASL and English) approach to legal interpreter training. This self-paced course highlights resources that were developed to address the growing demand for interpreters with specialized skills to interpret in the legal specialty. The spotlight is organized in a series of modules that begins with a description of the developmental work conducted to provide a foundation for the creation of a nine-month Legal Interpreter Training, Mentor Training, Bridge to Practice, an online Legal Mentoring Toolkit, and other resources. Participants will have access to Canvas via Free for Teacher, which allows them to experience selections of Project CLIMB’s trainings and resources.

CEUs: Five hours of participation is required to earn 0.5 RID CEUs, which includes completion of all modules, substantive engagement in the embedded discussions, and completion of a course evaluation and CEU form. No partial CEUs will be awarded. This Professional Studies program is approved for 0.5 RID CEUs by UNC Department of ASL & Interpreting Studies, an approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities.
