Notice of Interpretation: Pre-Employment Transition Services Flexibility Regarding the Use of Federal Vocational Rehabilitation Funds - 1/7/2021

This webinar will provide an overview and background of the Notice of Interpretation (NOI) published in the Federal Register on February 28, 2020 by the Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) regarding the use of Federal VR funds reserved for pre-employment transition services. There will be a review of the clarification that reserve funds can be used to pay for auxiliary aids and services for any student with a disability with a sensory or communicative impairment in order to access or participate in pre-employment transition services. The webinar will also highlight the change in policy with respect to additional VR services needed by eligible students with disabilities that may be paid for with Federal VR grant funds reserved for the provision of pre-employment transition services and the circumstances under which those funds may be used to pay for those additional VR services. Potential impact and the status and implementation of the NOI will also be discussed.
