Discussion on Systemic Racism and Supporting Youth of Color - 6/30/2020

Time: Jun 30, 2020 01:30 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Description: This discussion session is part of Y-TAC’s Virtual Network series of peer-to-peer conversations for VR professionals. Special Guest Hasan Davis will join us for this discussion session to talk about experiences of systemic racism that youth of color with disabilities regularly encounter and implications for professional practice. The objectives for this discussion include increasing our awareness of how systemic racism impacts youth of color with disabilities, especially Black youth with disabilities, and identifying actions that VR professionals can take to effectively support youth in addressing racial inequities. Advance registration is required due to limited space.

The Y-TAC Virtual Network was launched this year to continue conversations about strategies for engaging out-of-school and other Opportunity Youth in VR services following the Y-TAC Virtual Convening. A recording of the Y-TAC Virtual Convening, including Opening Plenary by Hasan Davis, is available online at
