WIOA Webinar Series Part 3: Section 511 Limitations on the Use of Subminimum Wages - 7/17/2018

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 2:00:00 PM EDT - 3:30:00 PM EDT

Title IV of WIOA includes a new Section 511 that sets forth a series of new limitations on the placement of youth with disabilities in jobs with employers who hold special wage certificates pursuant to Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”).  This webinar will explore these new requirements and highlight the changes in practice they represent.

About this Webinar Series: The legal landscape around serving transition-age youth has changed dramatically in the last few years. The Vocational Rehabilitation Youth Technical Assistance Center (Y-TAC) is conducting a five-part series of webinars to assist youth service professionals in understanding the intricacies of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other legal changes related to serving transition-age youth.  The webinars are designed for Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, school personnel, community-based organizations, and other youth service professionals working with transition-age youth as well as family members and advocates.

The Y-TAC is a sister technical assistance center of the NCWD/Youth, housed at the Institute for Educational Leadership and supported by the U.S. Department of Education's Rehabilitation Services Administration.
