In the United States, rehabilitation services are provided according to a uniform standard and process that was established by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and its amendments. Since all state vocational rehabilitation programs are required by law to adhere to the structure and regulations outlined by the federal government, it is important for public sector rehabilitation professionals to be familiar with the structure, location, and function of the Federal-State Rehabilitation Program.
